After a critically acclaimed and sold-out run in London, Matthew Hennigar’s “Why did the Chicken Cross the Road?” makes its American debut at the Hollywood Fringe Festival! Turning the familiar joke into a comedic quest, the play follows each of the words in that joke as a character as they try to figure out their meaning and reach the ‘real world’. Ages 14+. An hour long.

REVIEWS OF THE LONDON PRODUCTION:

“With impeccable writing and close attention to identity dynamics, we leave ‘Why did the chicken cross the road?’ feeling not only as though we have watched some fiercely sharpened performances all round, but as though we are better equipped for dealing with the chaos of the world.” – Seline Cornfield, Strand Magazine

“A terrific show… managed to extend the conceit while deepening its resonance, keeping us entertained, and providing real warmth and meaning. Great performances in a hard-to-memorize script, too!” – Dr. Ian Henderson, Lecturer at King’s College, London
